Seasonal Programs 2020

We are happy to launch a special Christmas virtual field trip of Government House! While we are sad that we won’t be able to share Government House with your students in person, we’re doing the next best thing. We plan on having tours for schools available via YouTube starting on December 7th and continuing throughout the holiday season.

This abbreviated tour of the House (only covering a few of the rooms on the main floor) will showcase Victorian Christmas Traditions and explore how people in the early 1900s celebrated Christmas. Take a step  back to Christmas Eve 1905 and join Saskatchewan's first Lieutenant Governor,  Amédée Forget and others as they get ready for Christmas.

After the tour, your class can listen to some Christmas classics (Winter Wonderland, Let It Snow, Jingle Bell Rock and Here Comes Santa Claus) played on our player piano and see more Christmas decorations around Government House.

You can also choose the Christmas craft video and we will provide you with instructions for your students to make a typical Christmas tree ornament from the Victorian period. This craft will only require paper, scissors, a hole punch, glue and ribbon.
