Home to one of Saskatchewan's most historical secret gardens is Government House.
Come step back in time where the concept of creating "outdoor rooms" with unique vegetation in each garden is featured in our 8.5 acres of manicured Edwardian Gardens (originally planted in the late 1890's). Our gardens feature thousands of annuals and perennials including a collection garden full of lilies, a vegetable/herb garden and a rose garden. Our paths are fully wheelchair accessible.
There will also be Topiary Workshops on Saturday and Sunday by one of Wascana Centre Horticulturist.
Time: 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm
Location: Just north of the LG's Entrance (see map below) on the grass (inside GH if raining)
No matter the weather there is something to see. Looking to cool off? Step inside Government House and take in our exhibit on the original gardener of Government House, George Watt. See how he took the landscape from bare prairie grassland to what it is today. While enjoying our air conditioning, step back in time with our free hourly tours of the Amédée Forget Museum where our characters will bring history to life.
Our Vice Regal Coffee Bar will be open so perhaps an iced tea or water will be just the drink you need to continue checking out Government House and our Edwardian Gardens!
Want more information on our gardens? There is a garden tour daily at 10:00 am and an ecology tour at 2:00 pm with one of Visitor Experience Hosts.
