Courting Couch

Courting coach that is in the main hall of the museum at Government House Saskatchewan
Found in the main hall

Chosen by

Carrie Ross, former Executive Director, Government house

Chosen because

“One of my favorite pieces is the Courting Couch located in the Main Hall. I enjoy sharing the story of how in Victorian times a chaperone would sit between and at all times keep a watchful eye on the young couple while they were “courting”. This special artifact at Government House truly represents the prim and proper of Victorian times. I find many of our visitors enjoy hearing about the Courting Couch and often chuckle when I tell them with having a teenager daughter, I know the Courting Couch will not return any time soon”
