Program Choice

The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan was an ambitious training program created by the United Kingdom, Canada and other Commonwealth countries to train over 130,000 aircrew including pilots, operators, gunners and navigators to serve during the Second World War. In this virtual program, students will learn more about the activities that occurred in Saskatchewan and will be tested by post-visit activities.

Explore our 2021 feature exhibit Rehab-Rest-Recreation - Government House Convalescent Period. After the Second World War, Government House was renovated to serve as a Convalescent Home for veterans from 1945 to 1957. Students explore the exhibit and watch three vignettes of a nurse and soldier during their time at Government House.

Based on our 2021 feature exhibit Rehab-Rest-Recreation - Government House Convalescent Period. After the Second World War, Government House was renovated to serve as a Convalescent Home for veterans from 1945 to 1957. Students will watch three vignettes of a nurse and soldier during their time at Government House.

Introduce students to Saskatchewan’s history, the role of the Crown in Saskatchewan, and the role of the Lieutenant Governor. Following a 45 minute on-site visit to the Amédée Forget Museum and the J.E.N. Wiebe Interpretive Centre, students will spend another 45minutes playing It’s Democracy on a giant game board.

In partnership with the Legislative Assembly, students visit Government House to learn about the Lieutenant Governor and Royal Assent through a tour and dedicated activities. To book Part 1 at the Legislative Building, contact the Parliamentary Education & Heritage Branch at 306-787-5358.
