First built in 1901, the conservatory was much larger, reaching the end of where the ballroom is now located. When the ballroom was added in 1928, the conservatory was reduced and moved to its current location.
It now has an excellent view of the Edwardian Gardens. The offices of the present-day lieutenant governor are also visible in the northern part of the house. This section is the former servants’ quarters.

In January 2005, the conservatory was named after former Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Fedoruk. She was the province’s first female lieutenant governor (1988-1994). Her main initiatives were children and aboriginal communities in northern Saskatchewan.
